Naresh Sehrawat, convicted in the 1984 Sikh riots case, has filed an application in the Delhi High Court. In this, he has demanded suspension of his sentence. In the application, Naresh Sehrawat said that his health is not good. Also suffering from kidney disease. Therefore, the High Court should suspend his sentence. In fact, the Patiala House Court had convicted 2 persons in the murder of 2 people related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The lower court had sentenced Yashpal to death in the case. While the second convict Naresh Sehrawat was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court. Was found guilty in the murder of two Sikhs. The court had said that what happened in 1984 was very barbaric. The court has found Naresh Sehrawat and Yashpal Singh guilty of killing two Sikhs Hardev Singh and Avtar Singh in the riots in Delhi’s Mahipalpur. Naresh Sehrawat, who was convicted, was 59 years old and Yashpal Singh was 55 years old. The ages of Hardev Singh and Avtar Singh, both killed in the riots, were 24 and 26 years respectively in 1984. The 1984 anti-Sikh riots started in Delhi after the assassination of former Indian PM Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi was assassinated on 31 October 1984 by two of her Sikh guards.
