An auto mechanic had dreamed in childhood that he would become a doctor. After all, at the age of 51, the man fulfilled his dream. Between the age of 19 to 25, he ran his own shop as a mechanic. During this he saw many ups and downs in life. The story of this mechanic-turned-doctor has now gone viral on social media.
‘Fox News’ spoke to Dr. Carl Allamby, a mechanic-turned-doctor. Alambi gave credit to his family, especially wife Kim, behind this journey to become a doctor. Because because of him, Carl’s dream came true. She used to constantly motivate him. Carl’s wife is a therapist by profession.
Carl lived in East Cleveland, Ohio (USA) as a child. Carl had dreamed in childhood that he would become a doctor. But due to poverty, he opened an auto repair shop, despite becoming a mechanic, the dream remained alive in him.
Dr Karl told that his father used to work as a salesman. The mother used to take care of the five siblings at home. Dr Karl told that he had seen money crunch since childhood. There were days when there was no light, gas and water in the house.
He wanted to become a doctor, but the situation was difficult. But his parents had taught him one thing that work hard as much as you can, because this is the only way your dreams can be fulfilled.

When Dr. Carl was in high school, he got a job at a car parts store. While living here, he learned the work of repairing and maintenance of vehicles. During this he did many jobs. Then one day he thought that he would start his own business.
At the age of 19, he opened his shop and named it ‘Alambi Auto Service’. He worked as a mechanic till the age of 25. During this time he married and had children. After that came the stage, when he became a student. During this he used to work during the day and study at night.
He had turned 34 in the year 2006. He took admission in college at Urslin College so that he could get a business degree. But according to the Association of American Medical Colleges, he was required to take biology to complete the degree.
After this, Karl Allambi started taking pre-medical class coaching at Cuyahoga Community College in Ohio. Carl told that he always found it interesting to know about the human body.
After this, he took admission in medicine and started working as a volunteer in the Cleveland area. First of all, his duty started in the children’s ward. After this, he also served as a volunteer in the Department of Emergency, Urology, Neurology.
From Motor Mechanic to Medicine World
Alambi got admission in a program at Cleveland State University, through which he could prepare for medical school. In the year 2015, he got admission in Northeast Ohio Medical University. During this, he was also fulfilling the responsibility of husband and father of 4 children.
Then came the day when he graduated from medical university at the age of 47. In 2019, he started ‘Emergency Medicine Residency’. His dream came true in 2022, when his duty as an ‘attending physician’ doctor took place in the emergency room.
